Rosebud Contemporary, in collaboration with the School of Visual Arts MFA Fine Arts program, presents Fabricated Freedoms, a group exhibition of twelve emerging artists on view October 22–31, 2026. Working across painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media, the artists consider how freedom is shaped by acts of making and by the personal and social narratives we inherit.

Fabricated Freedoms takes its title from two meanings of fabrication: the making of something, and the construction of an idea presented as truth. Bringing together twelve artists, the exhibition explores how making can change the way we understand ourselves and the world around us.

Memory and imagination allow familiar people and places to be understood differently. The artists work with experiences of identity, loss, and belonging, giving them forms that can be revisited and shared. The exhibition also considers how public images and systems influence what we believe is possible.

Gesture, play, and attention to materials can lead an artist toward something unexpected. An image or an object then gives someone else a way to encounter that experience. Fabricated Freedoms follows this exchange between what the artist makes and what the viewer brings to it.

Participating artists include Aiden Loorham, Alexander McGady, Jessica Tobin, Ji Ji Kang, Jinchen Lan, Kata Zakharova, Larissa Felix Brum, Maureen Chiquet, Michelle-O LaFrance, Nathalie Slowak, Soojeong Park, and Yeji Yi.

About the School of Visual Arts: The School of Visual Arts MFA Fine Art program reflects the diversity of New York's many art worlds. Together, the faculty and students form a community of established and emerging artists from many backgrounds who work across disciplines and modes of practice. Its main goals are to provide a stimulating and supportive environment in which students can thrive and develop as artists, to foster rigorous critical engagement with contemporary art and other cultural forms, and to produce an ongoing conversation, through work as much as through words, about what we make, how we make it, and why.
